After being unveiled at MWC 2016, the Cat S60 rugged smartphone was launched in India on Thursday. Priced at Rs. 64,999, the smartphone will be available from high-end multi-brand retail outlets as well as Amazon India from Friday, March 17. Cat, or Caterpillar, is a US-based construction machinery manufacturing company. The company back in 2013 licensed its brand to UK-based Bullitt Mobile, which has since been producing Cat-branded feature phones, smartphones, as well as accessories, with an emphasis on durability. The Cat S60's highlight feature is the presence of the FLIR Lepton Thermal Microcamera Module on the rear panel, and the company claims the S60 is the world's first smartphone with an integrated thermal camera. This, according to the company, offers numerous use cases. Microsoft Surface Book 2 Tipped to Ditch 2-in-1 Design, to Launch in March or April

Image
Microsoft  launched the Surface Book , its 2-in-1 laptop, in 2015, and decided not to upgrade it last year. Instead, it concentrated on making the  laptop available in many regions  gradually. However, a fresh report claims that the successor is finally coming and has even entered mass production. The Surface Book 2 is expected to launch as soon as the end of this month or in April. DigiTimes  reports  that the Surface Book 2 has entered into mass production, and one of the big change from the predecessor is the ditching of the 2-in-1 design. Apparently, the Surface Book 2 will be a regular laptop with no detachable or 360-degree hinge that can transform the laptop into a tablet, prop it up in tent mode and also be able to use it flat on a table top. Design wise, that's quite disappointing, but the Surface Book 2 will be cheaper starting at $1,000 (roughly Rs. 65,500). The real reason for this change is unknown, but it could be that Microsoft wants...

EU5 stands for European Union Five, in which France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Britain are members. According to Spain-based consumer research firm Kantar Worldpanel, iOS achieved continued growth across most regions, except for Japan, Spain and Urban China. Android also continued to post market share increases in all regions but the US. The report said iOS and Android were the only two dominating operating systems in the world with BlackBerry OS, Symbian or Windows Mobile losing their grip. "February's Mobile World Congress 2017 demonstrated the true state of the market, with re-emerging brand names Nokia and Blackberry capturing a lot of attention, but now operating...

Samsung Galaxy S8 to shoot 1000 fps videos

Image
Samsung Galaxy S8 which leaked earlier today in some more photos will stay with its 12 MP camera but will match the Sony Xperia XZ Premium for slo-mo videos - it will shoot 1000 fps videos. The iris scanner will also be improved with a tiny 3.7 MP camera for better eye recognition, industry sources revealed. There’s plenty of leaks and rumors about the Galaxy S8, but this one sure sounds interesting. The camera is said to retain its 12 MP resolution, but this time the Korean company added DRAM enabling the super high framerates. Sony Xperia XZ Premium that was unveiled at MWC 2017 delivers that functionality thanks to the Sony’s IMX400 sensor but the report says Samsung won’t be using the same one. In addition, Samsung Galaxy S8 will have an 8 MP front camera and another, smaller one - 3.7 MP with RGB sensor that will be used for better iris recognition. The phone will be unveiled in two weeks in New York and London on March 29, so we'll know for sure if these rumors hold...
